A Credible Elevator Pitch?
Asked by Colleen Fallon on January 1, 2021
Jerry, thank you for the Elevator Pitch workshop. In 2019 I received a miracle. I was hoping you could advise me if my pitch has enough proof to keep a reader’s, or agent’s, interest. I understand why many would turn away. Miracles, especially to those without faith, seem improbable. My intention for the book is not just to have others believe in miracles, but to give hope to those involved in any way with breast cancer. Our Lord is ever present and prayer is powerful in so many ways. I didn’t find it necessary to mention mastectomy at this point. Do I have enough to get my foot in the door, or do I need a particular kind of agent?
“A diagnosis from three separate tests identified I had two different types of Stage 2 breast cancer. My journey of research, questions, diet, and journaling paled in comparison to my immersion in prayer for a healing. Three months later a post-operative pathology report informed me there was no cancer anywhere. I received my miracle.”

You'd definitely want an agent in the Inspirational Market, Colleen, but to be frank, I think what you have here is a good long article, not a book. I could be wrong, but it seems to me the heart of what you want to say can be rendered in a short effective piece and that a book might require a lot of padding.
