Colon in a Title

Asked by Ray Verola on June 29, 2020

Hi Jerry,
The title of my latest is: "RobotWorld: No Final Victories." I'm wondering, is the use of a colon in the title of a work, or in places like a book cover, acceptable? Is there a rule of thumb regarding a colon in a novel's title?
Thanks,
Ray V.

Colons are used, Ray, but a creative art director/type designer will accomplish what you need with type size and treatment, like making RoboWorld twice as big and a different color than No Final Victories. Then he might eschew the colon.
