Getting past the first chapter

Asked by Marie Pinkham on March 17, 2020

Hi Jerry, I get a (what seems to me) a great start on my stories, but then hit a stopping point and get stuck. How do I get past this? Thanks for your help.

It sounds like you're a Pantser, Marie, one who writes by the seat of your pants (as a process of discovery). It could be you'd be more comfortable as an Outliner, plotting out your story before you begin.

Here's a great primer on that subject: https://www.amazon.com/Outlining-Your-Novel-Map-Success/dp/0978924622
