Journaling Your Characters

Asked by Diane on October 6, 2020

Hi Jerry: I posted this one your timeline, but decided I should have messaged instead.

I am working my way through your Fiction Track. In 'Master Class #1: How to Become an Author with Chris Fabry' you talk about journaling about your characters as you write. Can you expand on this idea? Is it more about their character traits, or what they would do in a certain situation they are in? A bit of both?
Thank You for sharing your God-Given Gift with us!

Jerry's Answer

Hmm, my timeline, Diane? Where would I find that?

And no, I never suggest journaling as you write. Even Chris said he didn't remember who suggested it. And he also said he wasn't doing that when the revelations about his story and characters came to him.

Wish I could be of more help, if journaling sounds productive to you. Maybe Google it and see if someone else does it, recommends it, has ideas about it.
