Organization and Dialogue
Asked by Bonnie McCullough on January 1, 2021
Thank you for offering this course. Right now I have ideas written about what characters there are and only a couple that I have more detailed ideas to develop them/background/scenes etc. It will happen in bits of time through the day rather than during a focused time of writing. It is still disjointed. Is that normal? I get unsure of what to do after getting the ideas written down when I can look at how to show those things through dialogue and movement–how to get it going and not being sure how it will connect. Conversely I'll get a scene in mind and that's it and write that out.. I'm trying to learn how to cultivate the ideas and scenes instead of only waiting for them to hit. I guess I don't know if I am doing things right or if it is a confidence thing once I keep at it for a while will see it taking better shape.

Everybody works differently, Bonnie, and you must do what works best for your story and your lifestyle. There's no right or wrong approach, as long as you wind up with a completed manuscript. :)
