Proper Time to Introduce Antagonist
Asked by Iris Morgan on January 19, 2024
Does my antagonist have to be introduced during the inciting incident? For instance, the Protagonist is kidnapped by three "punks." She finds they're easily manipulated and she thinks she'll be able to guilt trip one into releasing her, but the next morning, the Antagonist (a serious baddie) is introduced, and she realizes she's in big trouble. Your thoughts?
Thank you!
Jerry's Answer
No, the protagonist can be introduced wherever and whenever it makes sense. He's implied during the inciting incident, and that works.
