Published without a platform?
Asked by Liezl Anderson on September 14, 2020
Hi Jerry,
I feel passionate about writing a memoir that is meaningful and helpful to others walking the road of childloss.
I don’t, however, think of myself as becoming a writer as a profession or writing more than this book (although I’m obviously open to other opportunities it might create).
I’ve listened to your input on building a platform/tribe and about the importance of having some kind of public/social media presence as an author.
Is it unlikely that I would be published without a platform- provided the writing itself is good- or is it much harder without one?
As it’s really just this one book that I have on my heart to write, creating and maintaining a platform would not only eat into my writing time- which is already limited- but it is also not the way I wish to share my story and myself with others.
Any advise?
Many thanks,
Liezl

I hear you, Liezl, and agree that self-publishing would probably be the best approach for you. Hopefully what you learn here will make your book the best it can be. All the best with it.
