Submissions for two genres

Asked by Bobbie De Leon on June 25, 2020

I have manuscripts for two genres, a novel in juvenile fiction that could easily work into a series and an 8 book children’s series. Is it okay to send submission to agents for both of those genres at the same time? Or should I submit one genre at a time and wait to see how that goes before submitting in the second genre?

Jerry's Answer

The odds against landing one project are so great that you want to put all your eggs in one basket--the one about which you're most passionate. Once you've succeeded with that, Bobbie, your agent--and publisher--will be eager to know what else you have.
