When you are writing a "memoir" type novel, do you recommend writing a full first draft and then getting an editor? Or half? Or an outline?
Jerry's Answer
I never recommend getting an editor, Samantha. My goal is to teach you to be a ferocious self-editor so you don't have to go to that expense. When you or an agent places a book with a publisher, the publisher will assign their own editor to it at their expense. But what they get from you should be your work, not that of you and a professional editor.
